Amy Penick has worked as a special educator in Mahomet since 2006.  This school year she is very excited to take on a new role as the COMPASS Program Teacher at MPE. The COMPASS program is part of the district's special education continuum and is new to MPE this school year. Students in the COMPASS program will receive core academic instruction along with instruction in the 4 functional life domains which include community living, domestic/independent living, vocational, and social/leisure that is age appropriate.  Amy is sure she will learn a lot this year and also have a lot of fun with her fabulous team and students!

Amy lives with her husband Brett and their 1 year old mini golden doodle, Teddy, who she is obsessed with!  Be sure to ask her to show you pictures!  Amy has 2 grown children who are Mahomet-Seymour grads. Her son, Aaron, lives and works in Columbus, Ohio following his 2020 graduation from Ohio State University. Her daughter, Lauren, will be a junior at the University of Illinois.

Amy likes to bike in Wisconsin with Brett or locally with her buddy Steph.  She loves reading and looks forward to book club. She also loves to travel.  Most of all she enjoys spending time with her grown up kids.

Amy wants to welcome all students back to school and is looking forward to a wonderful year ahead!
