Mrs. Smith was supposed to join the 2nd grade team of teachers at Middletown Prairie this year, but at the last moment... she got to return to 1st grade where she started at MPE in January of 2021.  Welcome back to first grade, Mrs. Smith!

Mrs. Smith grew up in Paxton, IL and graduated from Illinois State University in 2007 with a B.S. in Elementary Education. Mrs. Smith spent the first four years of her teaching career teaching 5th and 6th grade in the Paxton-Buckley-Loda school district. Then, she began working part-time at The Vineyard Church in Urbana, IL while she was raising her 3 children. While working at the Vineyard she held many roles from Children’s Pastor to Administrative Pastor.  In January of 2021, she was hired as a temporary first grade teacher at Middletown Prairie Elementary.

Currently, Lacey lives in St. Joseph with her husband, Kyle and three kids, Landon (8th grade), Vivian (6th grade), and Carolina (2nd grade).  She enjoys spending time with her family, walking her goldendoodle, Jack, and watching her kids play sports.  She also enjoys reading, traveling, spending time by the pool, and a good cup of coffee. Lacey is thrilled to join the Mahomet-Seymour School District and is looking forward to working with students and their families this Fall!
