Ryan Martin is the principal at Middletown Prairie Elementary school. This will be Mr. Martin’s 2nd year as principal at MPE. Mr. Martin taught in the elementary setting for 17 years before jumping into administration.  He has a genuine love for all kids and enjoys the staff and family atmosphere that MPE offers.

Mr. Martin graduated from Mahomet-Seymour High school in 1997.  He went on to play basketball for 2 years at Parkland College before getting his elementary education degree at the University of Illinois.  His first teaching job was in a 5th grade classroom in Gibson City Melvin Sibley where he also coached 7th grade boys basketball and high school boys baseball. Mr. Martin moved up to Chicago to teach in Oak Park for the next 3 years.  He became an avid Cub fan during this time, living less than a mile away from Wrigley Field.

The love of all things sports led him to cross paths with his wife, Lisa Martin, at a Chicago Bears game through a mutual friend. Lisa teaches Health at Mahomet-Seymour High School and is the head coach of the MSJH cross country team. This relationship led to Mr. Martin moving back to his hometown. Mr. Martin taught 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades over a 13 year span at Leal Elementary in Urbana while coaching the junior varsity basketball team at Mahomet-Seymour High School.  During this time Mr. Martin received his master’s degree at the University of Illinois, which eventually led him to become the Assistant Principal at MPE in 2018-2019 and then principal in 2019-2020. Mr. Martin  has enjoyed his transition into his current leadership role with an amazing staff that truly puts kids first.

Mr. Martin has an amazing family full of lovely ladies.  With his wife Lisa they have 3 daughters:  Hannah (6th grade), Ashley (3rd grade) and Haley (1 yr in September).

Mr. Martin is officially a #girldad. He is excited to watch his children grow up and receive the amazing education that Mahomet-Seymour gave him.
